Pininfarina Grafeex Ballpoint Pen – Purple (Viola)

Pininfarina Grafeex Ballpoint Pen – Purple (Viola)

The Pininfarina Grafeex Ballpoint Pen – Purple (Viola) is a Grafeex Ballpoint ballpoint pen from Pininfarina Segno, carrying over the same design-led approach the brand applies across its writing instruments.

Why choose it

A ballpoint needs no filling, drying time or maintenance beyond the occasional refill, which makes it the easiest of the three main pen types to live with day to day — pick it up and it writes, whether that’s a quick note at a desk or a signature on the move. Pairing that convenience with distinctive Italian industrial design gives you a pen that looks considered without asking anything extra of you to use it.

Choosing between a ballpoint, rollerball and fountain pen

A ballpoint uses oil-based ink and needs light pressure to write, which makes it the most forgiving of the three main pen types — it works on almost any paper, survives being left in a bag for weeks, and needs no maintenance beyond swapping the refill when it runs dry. That trade-off is smoothness: a rollerball or fountain pen generally glides more easily, but both need slightly more care. For a pen that’s picked up and put down all day without a second thought, a ballpoint like this one is usually the practical choice.

Who it suits

A dependable everyday pen for the office or desk, and a strong gifting option for anyone who already appreciates Pininfarina’s automotive work and would enjoy the same design language in a pen.
